The OECD is an intergovernmental economic organization with 35 member countries, which was founded in 1961 to stimulate economic progress and world trade. Apart from 35 OECD member countries, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, India, Latvia, Lithuania, Peru, Romania, Russian Federation, Kazakhstan and South Africa also hold the status of guest at the OECD Development Assistance Committee.
Thanks to systematic efforts made by Azerbaijan International Development Agency (AIDA) since 2015, Azerbaijan has been granted the status of guest at the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the Foreign Ministry told APA.
Cooperation with the OECD Development Assistance Committee, which promotes the economic and social well-being of people around the world and brings together donor countries, is of great importance to Azerbaijan, which has turned into a new donor country, said the foreign ministry.
"Participation in this leading organization’s meetings will earn Azerbaijan more international influence, make our country’s donor activities more efficient, and help form new partnerships,” the ministry added.

Experts deem that cooperation with OECD/DAC that brings traditional donor countries together and engages in improvement of social welfare of people in the world is considerably important for Azerbaijan turning  into a new member of donors family. According to them, participation in their meetings will allow Azerbaijan to form new partnerships and rise efficiency of the donor activities carried out by our country and reputation in international area as well.

Member of Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship Committee of the Azerbaijani parliament Vahid Ahmadov told in his statement to "Kaspi” that reforms carried out in Azerbaijan draw a lot of interest.
According to him, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) follow  the Azerbaijani economy, mainly,  the  measures done in order  to improve non-oil sector after sharp drop of oil price: " To predict the outcomes of the reforms from now is difficult over  economic-political processes taking in the world. But despite all this, goals set  by President Ilham Aliyev, integration to international organizations, getting positive feedback by international financial institutions and good relations of Azerbaijan with significant financial organizations  prove that our country, indeed , is doing his best to reach the level of developed countries. Although, drop of oil price in the world market over political issues  caused plunge in  budget incomes  and two  times devaluation of  Azerbaijani Manat and some drawbacks but these processes were observed in almost all countries. Works like declaration of economic priorities, and handling the crisis have been done in Azerbaijan . In my opinion, as a result of these works Azerbaijan has  got status of guest at OECD. I believe that it will provide far more promotion of our country in the world and better reputation in international organizations. Curently, great attention is paid to the production of exportable products. Growth of non-oil sector was put forward by President Ilham Aliyev as number one task. Therefore, getting status of guest at international organization,  I assess, as a positive event." added Vahid Ahmadov.

While sharing  his views on this issue with "Kaspi” former Finance Minister, Chairman of Association for International Economic Studies (AIES) "Ekonomiks" Fikrat Yusifov also noted that Azerbaijan has become the country that has special place in both political and economic sphere.
According to him, comprehensive reforms, mainly, flexible policy in economic field allow our country to have a greater influence in the international arena:" Realization of  transnational projects like North Gas Corridor that being realized by initiative of  Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and expected to play significant role in providing energy security of  Europe show how great role Azerbaijan plays in the region.  Today, Azerbaijan is the most powerful and influential country in the  South Caucasus region. It is almost impossible to realize  any project without participation of Azerbaijan. For that reason, getting a status of guest at OECD , becoming a member of other influential organizations in Europe and the world by Azerbaijan is quite logical." said Yusifov.
